Submitted by True Servants
We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, respectfully petition Congress to propose and adopt a Constitutional Amendment to restore integrity, accountability, and true public service to our federal legislative branch. Our nation’s founders never intended for public office to become a permanent career, nor for elected officials to receive compensation and benefits vastly out of step with those they represent. To strengthen the Republic and renew trust in its institutions, we call for the following reforms:
1. Term Limits for All Members of Congress
We petition for a Constitutional Amendment establishing a maximum of 12 years of total service in Congress, regardless of chamber.
This means:
A combined total of 12 years between the House and Senate,
Not 12 years in each chamber.
This limitation will ensure rotation in leadership, prevent the entrenchment of career politicians, and restore a government that reflects the voice and will of the people.
2. Elimination of Congressional Pensions
Public service is a privilege, not a lifelong financial guarantee. We petition for the removal of federal pension benefits for Members of Congress.
The intention is simple:
Serving in Congress should be an act of civic duty,
Not a retirement plan funded indefinitely by taxpayers.
Ending these pensions will align congressional benefits with the true spirit of service envisioned at the founding of our nation.
3. Fair and Reasonable Congressional Compensation
We petition that congressional salaries be brought in line with those of other public servants who protect and serve our nation every day—including members of the United States Armed Forces and law enforcement.
If elected officials seek to represent America, they should live like America, not above it. Reasonable, modest, fair pay will ensure:
Greater accountability,
More authentic representation,
And a government that remains connected to the realities its citizens face.
